We now have two opportunities for Independent Living Officers to become part of a unique and important customer facing team within our Independent Living community. One role is full time, one  will be part time - 30 hours per week.

 

The Role

 

Our Independent Living Officers, on a day to day basis, will deal with rent arrears, low level ASB and assist our customers in applying for property transfers should the need arise as well as the general day to day needs of managing a tenancy. You will also support and encourage social interaction and be creative and imaginative to deliver events and activities.  

 

You will have regular contact with each customer depending on their requirements as visual presence and face to face contact is key to ensuring our customers have the assistance they need to be happy and safe in their property. 

 

Customers living in our properties are diverse and often vulnerable therefore the role can be challenging. You will need to have a flexible, caring, understanding and positive approach to assist them with any issues and concerns that may arise. 

 

About You

 

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential and you will need to have previous experience working within a customer based environment that acknowledges and understands vulnerabilities. You will also have an understanding of welfare benefits including Housing Benefit claims.

 

You will be proficient in the use of  IT based systems and MS Office and be able to work on your own as well as part of a team. 

 

The use of a current driving licence and access to an appropriately insured vehicle is a requirement for the post and essential car user allowance will be paid where applicable.
